With busy family life, how does Matt Dawson find the time to do all the studying and exams to become a Chartered Financial Planner?
Matt is an established member of the 2mtrust team and has been with us since the days when we had a physical office. With a family of his own, Matt understands the importance of planning for your and your family's future. He has a long-standing client base at 2mtrust and works to keep up to date with the latest policies and regulations within financial services.
But that’s enough talk about work - now it’s time to hear from Matt himself…
We’ve asked Matt some questions so you can get to know him a little better. Read on to find out more…
1. What did you do for a job before coming to work with 2mtrust?
I worked for a large company in their Accounts division. I was responsible for paying all their German invoices on time and claiming any discount for early payment
2. What do you like to do outside of work?
I have always loved playing ball sports including football, rugby and cricket
I started playing hockey about 5 years ago and was until recently the treasurer of our hockey club
When I am no longer able to run about my plan is to take up golf!
3. What has been your favourite holiday so far?
That is a hard one… A memorable holiday was visiting Uganda
Aside from white water rafting down the Nile, seeing amazing waterfalls and going on safari - I also got engaged!
4. Do you speak any other languages?
I love learning languages and studied German at University. I loved living in Germany and at one point contemplated living out there indefinitely
I also spent 5 months learning Spanish in Peru as part of a ‘sabbatical’ in South America
You can learn so much about a country and its culture through its language
5. Do you have a favourite food?
You can’t beat a good Sunday Lunch – Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings would be my favourite meal of the year!
6. What is your favourite film, tv show or book and why?
My favourite films are Gladiator and Top Gun – surely no reasons required!
My favourite author is Robert Harris and I love his style of historical fiction – Fatherland and the Cicero series stand out
7. What is your favourite season and why?
Summer – I do like some warmth and being able to eat outside
8. Do you have a life/family motto?
‘The days are long but the years are short’ – it certainly sums up life with young children!
9. What advice would you give your younger self?
You’ll never have more spare time than you do now – don’t delay studying for exams to achieve professional qualifications
10. What is (or what would be) your karaoke song?
I am a very bad singer and tend to avoid the microphone at all costs however I do remember at University murdering a rendition of ‘Stay another Day’ by East 17
Unsurprisingly I managed to clear the dance floor!
